(Un)Making a Dominican: Contextualizing the Ruling that Denationalizes Dominicans of Haitian Descent

Join us for a public event and conversation addressing the recent ruling of the Dominican Constitutional Court to strip Dominicans of Haitian descent of their citizenship. In solidarity with other organizations and worldwide actions, scholars, artists, students, and activists discuss the ruling and its effects. Film Screening of Birthrights Crisis will help illuminate the history of the issue, along with a musical performance by Kalunga Neg Mawon Haitian-Dominican Music band. There will be an action table to help participants take action against this issue and sign up to join the movement. Co-sponsored by We Are All Dominican (College Students throughout NYC), CUNY Graduate Center's Dominican Studies Group, Caribbean Epistemologies Seminar, and the Afro-Latin@ Forum, The Advanced research Collective at the Graduate Center (ARC) and The Center for the Humanities.
