Twenty years after Pierre Bourdieu's La Noblesse d'Etat, what are the main features of the French system of elite education today? What are its specificities compared with the American system? Social reproduction and elitism are still prevalent, but new debates, new stakes, and new realities have emerged that are changing the shape of elite education in France.
Muriel Darmon is a sociologist and CNRS Research Fellow at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon.
Co-sponsored by the Department of Sociology
Location: Buell Hall, East Gallery, on the 1st floor
